Roller chains
It is the type of chain drive most commonly used for the transmission of mechanical energy in many industrial and agricultural machines, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, etc. Other types of chains are derivatives used for special applications. Using the roller chain, the drive forces are transmitted by a mechanical transmission from the drive gear to the driven gear. The simplest chain drive is thus made up of two chain sprockets and a chain, with different gear ratios and arbitrary shaft spacing. An advantage is their use at high circumferential speeds, low tooth wear, operational safety, high power transfer efficiency, high load capacity and slippery operation.
